Jim Benjamin is Co-Chair of the Barrister’s Ball and will attend the American Bar Association’s Metropolitan Bar Leaders Conference Jim Benjamin is serving as a Co-Char of the Barrister’s Benefit Ball, to be held on May 5, 2012 at the Hyatt Grand Hotel in Denver. The Ball benefits Metro Volunteer Lawyers. This year’s theme is “Dancing with the Bar Stars” and will feature past Bar Association Presidents competing. In addition, as President-Elect of the Denver Bar Association, Jim will be participating in the American Bar Association’s Metropolitan Bar Leaders Conference in New Orleans, LA from February 2 to 4. Janet McDaniel and Al Cohen presented at a seminar on Public Construction Contracts and Procurement Regulations in Colorado Janet McDaniel and Al Cohen presented two sections of a seminar on Contractual Provisions and Dispute Resolution Procedures, on January 11, 2012. The seminar was organized by Lorman Education Services and an audio recording and reference manual are available from Lorman’s web site. Audio and reference manuals also are available for two 2011 seminars given by Al Cohen, Fundamentals of Construction Contracts: Understanding the Issues (2011) and What to do When Construction Projects Go Bad (2011). Janet McDaniel and Al Cohen both named to Chambers USA rankings again for 2011 Janet McDaniel and Al Cohen are two of eight “Leading Individuals” in Colorado named by Chambers USA to its 2011 attorney rankings for Real Estate: Construction. Regarding Janet, Chambers noted, with emphasis, that she is “credited for her "tremendous understanding of the construction process." She is becoming increasingly prominent for her practice in “construction litigation and the drafting, negotiation and review of contracts.” Chambers quoted one response as commenting that Al “can do anything you need a construction lawyer to do." Chambers continues: “He is particularly highly regarded in litigation, arbitration and mediation involving private and public sector contracts.” Chambers publishes a guide to lawyers in the United States, and around the world, undertaking extensive research from attorneys and clients to identify top lawyers by geographic location and practice specialty. Jim Benjamin began his terms as President-Elect of the Denver Bar Association and on the Board of Governors of the Colorado Bar Association on July 1, 2011. Jim Benjamin began his term as President-Elect of the Denver Bar Association on July 1, 2011. He will serve in that capacity for 2011 and will become the President in 2012. He has been on the DBA Board of Trustees and one of three members of the Executive Council since 2010. Jim Benjamin also began his term on the Colorado Bar Association’s Board of Governors on July 1. The Board of Governors is the governing body for the Colorado Bar Association. Wes Howard also is a member of the Board.
