Wesley B. Howard whoward@bbhlegal.com Wes Howard focuses his practice on commercial litigation and business disputes. He has a wide range of experience in lawsuits and arbitrations involving commercial contracts, business torts, securities, real estate developments and company dissolutions and related conflicts. He also has an active practice representing and advising insurance policy holders. He has successfully prosecuted claims for denials of coverage by carriers and triggered payments by presenting demands to insurers. He has successfully resolved disputes for clients involving their property, casualty and "officers and directors" and home owners association ("HOA") insurance carriers. Wes Howard was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska, where he attended public schools and was active in sports and drama. The first member of his family to earn a college degree, he was awarded a prestigious Stephen F. Tyng Fellowship at Williams College which helped pay for not only his four year college degree, but also his three year law degree from the University of Denver College of Law. Prior to attending law school, Wes taught first grade and kindergarten, worked as a carpenter, and directed social service centers in the inner city. From 1980 to 1982, Wes served as Law Clerk to the Honorable Judge Jean S. Breitenstein, Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. In 1983, Wes was awarded a grant under the US-Spain Friendship Treaty to study water law in Madrid. He remembers fondly the days of being fluent in Spanish and maintains a keen interest in the language and culture of Latin countries. Wes has been on the Colorado Super Lawyers® list since 2009 for business litigation, general litigation and business/corporate law. Wes is an active member of the Denver, Colorado, and American Bar Associations, as well as several civic organizations including the City Club of Denver and the Williams College Alumni Association of Colorado, of which he has served as President. He is a Colorado Bar Fellow. The parents of two children, Wes and his wife, Patricia, are involved as volunteers with the Denver Public Schools and are active in volunteer activities in the Washington Park neighborhood of Denver. Wes served as the first President of the Denver Soccer Club, a non-profit corporation serving Denver youth. He is also active in soccer as a player, coach and referee.Practice Areas
